The Divisive Cruelty of Religious Minds

Have you ever been in desperate need for some serious answers for your life? Spiritual or otherwise? You went to someone you knew, someone you trusted because you thought they were a very “spiritual” person and would surely have the answers you needed. You may have said to yourself, “After all, this person goes to church all the time, they give their money to the church and they even keep the Ten Commandments and other rules.”

Instead of leaving with your need being met, you’re left with guilt, condemnation, and possibly a feeling of worthlessness. You may even have been told you had to clean up your act first. That’s what was implied to me at one time. Or perhaps you were given a list of rules that had to be strictly adhered to first and then maybe; God would be willing to move on your behalf. You may even have been told to go somewhere else because you don’t belong our group.

As a result, you came away deeply wounded—turned off on religion and the church in general. Now you want nothing to do with any church or the religious hypocrites that go there.

Because of this experience you now look at all “so-called Christians” through a magnifying glass and your whole perspective on life is contaminated. I don’t blame you at all for feeling and thinking that way, I was there myself almost forty years ago.

The Exclusive Religious Order

In Mark 3:1-6, once again Jesus confronted the hateful, manipulative attitudes of the religious order (the Pharisees) of His day as He’d done many times before.

This particular passage describes a scene in the synagogue where Jesus noticed a man with a paralyzed hand. Verse two says that the Pharisees were watching Jesus closely to see if He would heal this man on the Sabbath.

In the Greek language of this scripture, closely means they were watching Him scrupulously. In other words, they were watching Jesus very intently for the expressed purpose of entrapping Him for “breaking their rules”. This attitude says so much about these men, as well as the evil spirit that operates undetected and motivates most unbiblical religious acts, then and now.

In verse three in the NKJV of this passage, after Jesus spotted the man with the withered hand, He said, “Step forward!” This doesn’t mean just move ahead a little bit. Jesus called him out and away, from where he was sitting among the other men. He brought him into plain view on purpose “in front of” the very men who hated Him and would later have Him killed. Even if you don’t believe in Jesus or agree that He is God’s son, you have to admire and respect His courage, boldness, and fearlessness in the face of caustic and noxious religious hatred towards Him.

This is awesome because Jesus fully intended to offend their self-righteous, calloused minds to reveal the true condition of their hearts. And He will do that to us as well when necessary. However, He only does that because He is against anything that interferes with the unconditional love of God toward us.

These religious leaders could have cared less about this man with the withered hand that Jesus was about to heal. They were so full of themselves and their exalted opinions that most likely they only had their minds on one thing. Jesus was not afraid of them, nor was He going to be manipulated or controlled by them and they hated Him all the more for it.

Jesus said to the man, “Stretch out your hand”, and when he did, it was immediately restored like new. Verse six says the Pharisees went out immediately and plotted how to destroy (kill) Jesus; and all because they could not put Jesus “in their little religious box!”

Influenced by the Demonic

The root of a religious spirit operating in someone is actually demonic in origin and its characteristics prove that to be true. Satan and his demons’ ultimate goal is to gain total control and manipulate their hosts at will, finally destroying an otherwise valuable life. This is why they try so hard not to be recognized and exposed. They work tirelessly to remain hidden through the use of lies and deception. Webster’s dictionary actually says that the word occult means to become hidden or shut off from view.

Many people under this influence probably don’t even realize it because it’s a very subtle, but effective type of deception. It makes people think their way of believing and walking out the bible in their denomination or particular persuasion is the only way it should be done. They may not ever admit to it intellectually or verbally but it’s implied many times without their knowledge that this message is being sent.

Remember, Satan and his demons love to influence through coercion, manipulation, and control. And they will get their way if they go unrecognized…even in God’s house, especially in God’s house! I personally believe that their most valuable targets are God’s children, His leaders and His house, especially if Christians are damaging his kingdom already. After all, do you remember the temptation in the wilderness? Thank God Jesus knew how to use the written word.

Punished Into Purity…

In many churches today as in days gone by, there is still a misunderstanding of grace, which is also part of the nature of our heavenly Father.

I was raised in a very harsh, legalistic, religious environment where it was ok for people that were unbelievers to come to church just as they were. In other words, if they smoked, drank, did drugs, lived together unmarried or anything else, they were more than welcomed to attend as long they wanted to. However, if they decided to accept Jesus as Savior, be born again, or however you want to refer to it, then things needed to change immediately from the church’s perspective.

The church members in charge of helping new converts would immediately begin a process of telling these new Christians how they needed to cut their hair if they were guys with long hair, they needed to quit smoking, quit drinking, quit partying, quit living together unmarried, start wearing different clothes, change your style of music…and the list goes on and on.

That is NOT grace!

It’s just another manifestation of a religious spirit that is full of rules and works that have to be performed after the person comes to the Lord. Again, without the knowledge of the person or the leadership that this kind of spirit is operating in, what is actually being implied is that the power and grace of Jesus was not enough to complete what Jesus did at Calvary. In other words, when Jesus said on the cross, “It is finished,” He was lying.

The implication is that the person who desires to accept Jesus as Savior must clean-up on the outside first and fulfill a list of rules before he is accepted. That may be true in some particular churches, but it’s not true according to the desire of Father God’s heart. It’s actually a well-crafted lie from Satan himself.

They have not understood that they are trying to do the work that ONLY the precious Holy Spirit can do in the heart of an individual. Only God through the Holy Spirit can and will draw someone to Himself and reveal their need of Him. Only He can change the desires of their heart when they cooperate with Him. He is patient and willing to wait to start changing their outside…when and if He wants to. He may be OK with exactly how they look at the time.

If we’re not sensitive to the Lord in this matter, a new believer can be turned away from God permanently because we’re trying to play Holy Ghost Jr.

Received by Love

Jesus, through the presence and influence of the Holy Spirit and by God’s specific direction, will draw men and women to Himself if He knows they will respond to Him. Once they accept Him, He will begin to gently and lovingly deal with them about changes that need to be made in their lives and He’ll do it in His timing if we’ll take our hands off the situation.

Only then should we be involved in helping to make changes in someone’s life, and only at the Lord’s direction. Our responsibility is to be sensitive to His leadership in what we are supposed to say to people, when we’re to say it, and when we’re to stop saying it.

God loves them more than we ever could and He knows them better than we ever will. That’s why He sent the most priceless gift to earth that He had—Jesus. Everyone one on this planet wants to be loved, respected, and treated with dignity and honor. And most people that are running from God or don’t know Him at all, would respond to a genuine act or word of unconditional love.

So let’s each do our part in the particular realm of influence the Lord has given us. If we do it with the right motive and the right spirit, we’ll be amazed at how God moves in situations.

Do you need healing in your body, mind, or emotions as a result of what we talked about today? Maybe it’s the result of the pressures of life in general or something that you’re not able to share with anyone. I encourage you to check out this link for the truth that will begin to make you whole and restore hope for a bright future, regardless of outside circumstances.

Serving You Truth,

Enemy Propaganda

Have you ever been wounded emotionally by a lie that someone told about you?

Have you ever been hurt as the result of believing something for years that you thought was true, only to find out later on that it was a lie?

There are evil spirits which are alive and well on planet earth today. They are roaming about daily, (1 Pet. 5:8) whispering lies in people’s ears for the purpose of undermining the truth of God’s word that gets sown in our hearts. If these spirits succeed often enough, we as Christians will never experience victory or enjoy our lives.

Satan’s MO

In times past, when one faction wanted to confuse or deceive their enemy during times of war, they would circulate propaganda through different means in hopes of gaining an advantage so that they could ultimately destroy them.

Webster’s Dictionary says that propaganda is: information, ideas, or rumors deliberately spread widely to harm a person, group, movement, institution, or nation.

This is exactly what your arch enemy, satan, hopes to do to you. And if you don’t know God’s word, it’s much easier for him to accomplish this task of distraction, deception and finally destruction.

The reason we must know God’s word is because satan also knows God’s word…very well!

As a matter of fact, he used several scriptures when he was tempting Jesus in the wilderness (Mt. 4:1-7, Lu. 4:1-12). But remember this; every time he used scripture, it was twisted out of context for his own evil, selfish motive.

Do You Know Who You Are?

If you’ve been a Christian for a while, hopefully you know what God says about your identity—who you are in Christ. In Romans and Galatians, the apostle Paul said that we have been crucified with Christ and raised to new life in Him. In Second Corinthians 5: 17-21, it says that if we’re in Christ we are a new creation and that Jesus became sin for us so that we might become the righteous of God. Now that’s a HUGE deal.

As Christian people we should always be growing in our understanding of God’s word. That simply means that while all of God’s word is true, there are some truths that are greater than other truths. In other words, there are multiple layers of truth that can only be revealed by the Holy Spirit.

It is my conviction that one of the most important truths in the bible is to know our identity in Christ and that’s what I want to focus on in this post.

We “Really” are Dead!

Recently, I was having a particular struggle with an issue that I “know” Jesus had previously given me victory over. But it was really starting to defeat me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually and I even found myself getting into fear over it—like I couldn’t win anymore.

Then the Lord brought to my mind a message that I’d heard a few months ago titled: Really Saved. It was taken from Romans 6:3-11 where the apostle Paul is describing what happened on the cross with Jesus and how we really were crucified with Christ, and that our old sin nature was totally, completely done away with…eradicated forever!

It’s not still heaving on the cross, gasping for breath and waiting for the opportunity to have another brief resurrection. If that were the case, then Jesus lied when He said, “It is finished!” in John 19:30.

This is a big deal as Christians!

When the Lord reminded me of this, it was actually the difference between living with frustration over this issue or being confident that victory was on the way. I understand the grace and mercy side of God and how He forgives sin that we confess and then continues to love and accept us unconditionally.

However, if you’re anything like me, and you’ve been taught that you must continually put down that old sin nature by the power of Christ in order to gain victory, it can still be spiritually discouraging at times. Especially if you’ve experienced relentless spiritual attacks that have gone on for an extended period of time…like a few years.

Who is Doing This to Me?

If you’re experiencing attacks on your mind, emotions, appetites and desires that you know are wrong, I believe this will encourage you. I want to repeat what I said above about the fact that our old nature is not still alive.

You must either believe that God’s word is true, or it’s not, there’s no middle ground. It is absolute final authority and you can and should take it literally if it’s in context.

Romans 6:6 says that our “old man” (that is our Adamic sin nature, pre-salvation state) was crucified and done away with. It did not have another resurrection. Romans 6:7 says that “he has died” has been (past tense-not to come back) freed from sin. When Christ was buried and then resurrected, He did not only do that for us…He did is “as us”. His resurrection was “our resurrection”. Romans 6:11 says to “consider ourselves dead indeed to sin”.

Now if we are dead to sin but alive to God, that simply means in our resurrected, reborn spirit from Christ, it is impossible for us to sin. It’s not in our nature because we have the nature of Christ.

The problem is this. Paul said in Ephesians 6:12 that we do not fight against flesh and blood (ourselves or others) but our fight is against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness and against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places.

This is who is doing all this stuff to you! It IS NOT your old sin nature. When you don’t recognize the source, you’ll get into condemnation and introspection which opens the door to your enemy, then sin enters.

Every sin a Christian commits comes from believing a lie from the enemy.

The bible actually speaks of “familiar spirits” in the old testament that were involved in tormenting and oppressing people. Satan does not want you to think it’s him or his demons attacking you. So, if he can get you to agree with the lie that “it’s still you” and that it’s still your sin even though you know you were delivered from it, you’ll begin to wonder if Jesus really completed His work in your life.

Then you’ll question your identity in Christ, as well as “did God really say or do” such and such? It’s the same thing that tripped up Adam and Eve in the garden so long ago.

Please take this to heart, I believe it will help you as it did me. The more revelation we get out of God’s word, the more victory we can live in and the more intimate our relationship will become with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And there’s nothing more valuable than this in the days we’re living in.

Serving You Truth,

*I have intentionally gone overboard on word emphasis and embellishments in this post because of the importance of this information. And lastly, I intentionally did not capitalize satan’s name except at the beginning of a sentence because he does not deserve the recognition.

Dreaming God’s Dreams (for you)

Do you have things in your heart that you want to see come to pass, but you don’t feel like sharing them with anyone at times because they either seem unreasonable or they actually scare you because you know it’s going to require you to step outside your comfort zone in a big way. Sort of like getting out of a boat in the middle of the ocean and trying to walk on water.

Have you ever wondered where those dreams and deepest desires originate? I’m talking about the deep desires of your heart to be or do something significant that will positively affect your life and those around you and make their lives better somehow.

God Gave Them to You

He gave you dreams so that He could be the one fulfilling them through you for the ultimate purpose of drawing others to Himself, and showing them His goodness.

God has no intention of placing desires in His children’s hearts and then frustrating them by never allowing their dreams to come to pass in their lifetime. That would be child abuse. But neither does God want us to take those desires that He’s given us and try to fulfill them through our own limited human intellect and abilities apart from His personal involvement.

We Need Him

When we take what God has given us in the form of dreams for our future and then run with them totally on our own—not stopping to take advice from Him—the success of that project or dream is severely handicapped and limited at best. It may actually appear very successful from the world’s perspective.

But many times without the knowledge of its possessor, that thing that was originally a dream conceived in the realms of heaven, materializes as nothing more than a short-lived corruptible monument to man. Sometimes it begins deteriorating almost as quickly as it started…in light of eternity which has no limits, no boundaries, and no end.

If you prefer to be involved in something lasting, something eternal, and something blessed by God’s own hand, then follow the desires in your heart that you know He has placed there.

Lay it Down for a Season

There must always be a time when your dream or desire is tested for its motives and validity. The test comes through the passing of time with little proof of its fulfillment, or through a variety of other seemingly unrelated experiences that have nothing to do with making your dream happen.

Occasionally, although very painful, the dream may have to be laid aside or put on the shelf for a season in order to thoroughly test and purify your motives.

I’ve done this one personally many times. I’ve had a dream in my heart for forty-three years this year of 2015. And while the intensity of it has subsided a bit, the reality of its presence is no less obvious than it was more than forty years ago when I graduated from high school. And, I believe the fulfillment of it is on the horizon.

In the process of waiting, God is making you fit and ready for what He has prepared for you up ahead. He’s developing character, perseverance, faith, tenacity, and other valuable qualities inside you as a person. You will need these traits before you get to your dream because they will allow to you bear up under the weight of not only the responsibility of your dream, but the blessings that come along with it which could destroy if you don’t have the character necessary.

Joyce Meyer has a great quote in this regard. She says, “Your gifts can take you where your character cannot keep you.” This is worth meditating on.

In this “entitlement generation” that we’re living in today, so many people, regardless of age, think the world, the government, corporations, and so on owe them something just because they have a diploma, or a degree, position, money, influence, or whatever. Unfortunately, many don’t have the character necessary to treat their peers with respect when they’re given high paid positions of authority, responsibility, and honor. You can never demand respect; it must be earned.

A Final Important Test

When you choose not to pick up your dream once you have laid it down, but it remains in your heart and affects your thoughts, your emotions, your conversation, you wake up with it and you go to bed with it, the chances are very good that it’s from God.

But I believe the bible shows us that there is one final thing that probably should happen to validate whether or not God is authorizing or promoting your dream.

If we’re honest with ourselves and with God, we should be able to admit that we need Him each step of the way if this dream is going to succeed. And there’s no better way than to hear His voice on the matter.

We as children of God need to invest quality time in developing the sensitivity of our hearts to the voice of the Holy Spirit who always speaks to us what He hears the Father saying to Him (see John 16:13). We can do this by reading and meditating on His word, taking the time to talk to Him and letting Him talk to us, worshiping him in private, and sometimes just sitting quietly and soaking in His presence with an expectant attitude of heart.

The most comforting and reassuring way for me to know that God is OK with me pursuing a particular dream is when I receive clear words of confirmation about that desire from the Holy Spirit in God’s word. Secondly, is to have confirmation come through the mouth and heart of a trusted family member, friend, or spiritual leader that I know, and you know is walking in close relationship with the Lord.

God used this method repeatedly throughout the Old Testament scriptures in the lives of men like Abraham, Daniel, Elijah, Ezekiel and many other prophets who had God encounters in the night seasons with dreams or angelic appearances. He also continued using this method throughout the New Testament in the lives of many like Peter, Paul, and many others. And He is still doing it today!

Many times dreams were validated by a word of confirmation—a prophetic word—that would bring further important detailed words of instruction so that their plans and desires would be accomplished successfully.

This is how I know the dream that I’ve been waiting on for over forty years is going to happen in the future. I’ve had many words of confirmation from trusted individuals and I know God is faithful to watch over and perform the words and plans that He has put into action over our lives (see Jeremiah 1:12).

God Wants You to Succeed

Does God really want to see my dreams to fulfilled? Absolutely! Will He only allow my dreams to be fulfilled if they are spiritual in nature? No!

Look at this scripture, I love it in the Amplified Bible. Proverbs 16:3: Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.

Psa. 37:4-5 are companion scriptures to this one. God said that if we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us those desires (they’ll come to pass) of our hearts. If we just trust in Him, He will bring them to pass. God is so good, He’s not holding anything back from us. But He won’t give us a bunch of stuff if it’s only going to make us more selfish than we already are.

We need to obliterate the religious idea that God only blesses dreams that involve spiritual activities.

Listen to this quote by Pastor Bill Johnson of Bethel Chapel in Redding, CA. “Religion implies that only overtly spiritual activities are acceptable as service to God and that anything that doesn’t have to do with Bible reading, witnessing, church attendance, etc. is not true Christian service. Religion takes us back to the concept of spiritual and secular parts of the Christian life. The person living this dual life needs a list of priorities to survive; otherwise, they will not take care of the matters of importance. Their concept of God doesn’t allow them to actually have a passion for something that is not viewed as a Christian discipline.”

Every good and every perfect gift comes down from God, the Father of lights in whom there is no shadow of turning (Ja. 1:17). In other words, He’s just waiting for you to believe that He really is good and He wants to bless you with the fulfillment of the dreams He gives you. But more than that, He wants an intimate relationship with you, like a Father with His daughter or son. However, you must come to Him through His son and admit that you need Him.

God is the source of all beauty in art in all its expressive forms, as well as beautiful craftsmanship. He is the source of all wisdom, knowledge and intelligence in the business community as well as the products and services created. He is the source of all ingenuity in technology, communication and so on.

He wants to be intimately involved in everything about you. He wants you to succeed in the fulfillment of your dreams so that others are drawn to His love, His beauty, and His excellence that is being released in and through you, simply because those divinely conceived destinies are now coming to pass in your life.

Serving You Truth,

God Gets the Blame for What We Permit

Have you ever asked yourself this question: If God is such a loving God, why did this or that happen? Or why didn’t He come through in this situation?

Doesn’t the bible say, “Ask and it shall be given?” And doesn’t it say, “Knock, and it will be opened to you?” Or what about, “Whatever you ask in prayer believing, you shall receive?”

I don’t understand.

Wrong Teaching

So many different persuasions of so-called “bible teaching” are floating around today that it’s no wonder there are so many people experiencing things that are exactly opposite of what Jesus experienced in His ministry during His life.

In Psa. 115:16, the bible says that the Lord gave the earth to “the sons of men” which immediately implies that we have some responsibility to perform. While the Old Testament was written under the laws of a different covenant, we actually have a higher level of “personal” responsibility and accountability now days to the Lord first, then to our families, loved ones, and ourselves.

I came from a very controlling and demanding legalistic and religious upbringing that not only implied, but openly taught at times that when bad circumstances came against you, God was either punishing us and trying to grow us up to be more like Him, or He was mad at us and we’d better straighten our act up.

This kind of teaching comes from a lack of understanding of what we currently have in Christ, and secondly, the truth that God really is a loving, merciful, and good God who only has our best intentions at heart.

God Gave Us His Authority

In Luke 10:19, Jesus told His disciples, “Behold, I give you authority…over all the power of the enemy, and nothing by any means shall harm you” (NKJV). The Gospels provide numerous examples—ships in the storm, feeding of the four and five-thousand, casting devils out of people, healing others, etc.—where it was very apparent that Jesus was plainly disgusted with His disciples because they did not or would act on what He had already taught them.

In Matt.10:8, He commissioned more of disciples with power to, “heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast out demons.” It’s hard to deny that He clearly gave us the same power He had to make His kingdom collide with this natural realm. And each time Jesus, or finally, His disciples acted on His Father’s words and authority, the earthy realm always gave way and bowed its knee to God’s kingdom authority…always!

The True Nature of The Father

If we will allow ourselves to be open-minded enough to admit that our particular denomination or doctrinal teaching might not have had “all the right answers,” we might just find ourselves standing in a new level of freedom and authority over our enemies and our circumstances that we’ve never experienced before.

But, in order to reach this place you must believe that God is always good and always loves and is NOT responsible for all the havoc and destruction that is happening on the earth today. If you believe that, then what in the world is the devil’s job? Doesn’t John 10:10 say that the (or devil) only comes to kill, steal and destroy, but Jesus comes to “give life” (not take it away) and give it in abundance?

Jesus also said in John 14:9 that he who has seen Me has seen the Father. And in Hebrews 1:3 it says that Jesus is the expressed image of the Father upholding all things by the word of His power. And last but certainly not least, John 3:16-17 God SO loved the world that He sent Jesus and that He did not send Him to condemn the world but the world might be saved.

Does that really sound like a God who wants to judge, condemn, and destroy the very beings He created? Luke 9:56 says that the son of man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.

Act on the Word Alone

In closing, I’d suggest that if you’re being fed traditions and doctrines of men that are not lining up with the word of God, and furthermore are not producing the same results that the word promises, then get out of there fast and repent for it.

When Jesus confronted the religious leaders of His day in John 5:39-40 He rebuked them because He told them that they were searching the scriptures because in them “they thought” they would find eternal life. And in fact, the scriptures even testified of Jesus. But then He said, “but you’re not willing to come to Me that you may have eternal life.”

The whole purpose of learning and abiding in God’s word is first and foremost for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Then when that is established and we know who we are in Him and what we have in Him, we can and should start walking in the authority He won for us on the cross over His adversaries. We are not supposed to be “under anything” from the devil, the world, or the flesh.

That’s why the apostle Paul said in 1 Cor. 15:57, “Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Serving You Truth,

Doctrines of Demons

So many “so-called” spiritual teachers and leaders today are “still” taking My words that “are” Spirit & Life (see Jn. 6:63) and “spiritualizing them” and they’re dumbing them down and making them impotent and void of power to bring authentic physical, spiritual and moral transformation in the lives of those they “are” responsible for before Me.

When they do this, they have taken My word that was intended to bring “real life” to broken bodies and souls and they turn My rhema word into “doctrines of demons”. When this happens, the influence of whichever kingdom is motivating the message is the manifestation that most certainly will occur.

If you always “spiritualize” my word about healing, deliverance, and salvation and turn it into a message about spiritual growth only because you don’t believe in healing and don’t know how to minister it to others, you teach people that My gospel is only good to become another source of intellectualism and humanism.

Serving You Truth,

Full Surrender

I want to share something with anyone who has ever dealt with the fear of “full surrender” to God. I believe in my heart that the Lord gave this to me and I’m sure it will help one honest person who is willing to admit that surrendering all to God can be scary sometimes.

This is what the Lord shared with me last May.

“Full surrender to Me is not My expectation of you living at a level of perfection in your walk with Me that is unattainable. That would be unjust and unfair of Me to expect that of you.

It simply means surrendering to me daily, sometimes hourly. When you fall down, don’t just stay there and roll around in the dirt. Get up and move forward (see Prov. 24:16). Pull out your sword and use it whenever necessary.

Do not allow the enemy to harass you mentally or emotionally. He has NO power against you and NEVER will UNLESS you agree with his lies. He has nothing to offer you, EVER, except lies and deception.

Even the most beautiful, tempting, tantalizing thing he has to offer you will ALWAYS lead to some type of death. Be it spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, financial or otherwise.”

Serving you truth,

Are You Sober?

Have you noticed what’s going on around us the last few years? It seems obvious that the secular world system has intoxicated the majority of the population with its messages of political correctness and self-indulgence of every vice possible as well as a myriad of other destructive habits and character traits.

When someone becomes intoxicated or drunk, there are visible signs you can easily recognize.

  • They become disoriented
  • They don’t see or hear correctly
  • They don’t listen to instruction
  • Their senses become dulled
  • They become easy prey

What’s sad about this condition in people is this. Most of them are not aware of their present state physically or mentally. So they’re also not aware many times that they can and do cause harm to people they love as well as other innocent people.

Many people in the world today are exhibiting these same signs. But the cause is not chemically related. Instead, it’s manifesting in them spiritually, emotionally and relationally, etc.

Many of them aren’t even aware that there is a problem. They have literally become drunk with their own secular humanistic belief systems. They’re actually being manipulated by a spiritual enemy whose primary goal is to destroy them physically, mentally and spiritually.

In 1 Peter 5:8 in the Bible it says, “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (NASB).” The word “sober” in this particular passage means to show moderation, self-restraint, self-controlled, and calm of spirit.

Whether you believe it or not, there is a real spiritual enemy that is after your spiritual and physical life and everything related to that and he hates you.

As I mentioned above, there are many people in our world today that are consumed with satisfying and indulging themselves with no thought of the long-term consequences. It’s actually so far out of balance that some are actually killing themselves.

Wake Up!

The passage below was written by the apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:14-18 in The Voice Translation.

Awake, you sleeper! Rise from your grave, and the Anointed One will shine on you. 15 So be careful how you live; be mindful of your steps. Don’t run around like idiots as the rest of the world does. Instead, walk as the wise! 16 Make the most of every living and breathing moment because these are evil times. 17 So understand and be confident in God’s will, and don’t live thoughtlessly. 18 Don’t drink wine excessively. The drunken path is a reckless path. It leads nowhere. Instead, let God fill you with the Holy Spirit.

It’s not just important in the days we’re living in, it’s critical that you recognize what’s going on around you and prepare yourself. Evil is escalating at an unprecedented rate, but God told us that would happen in Isa. 60:1-3 as well as several places in the New Testament.

We must wake up spiritually. In order to do that you need the power of the Holy Spirit living inside you. If you’re already a Christian but you’ve fallen asleep at the wheel, it’s time to shake yourself awake and see what God has for you to do and exactly where you’re supposed to be living, going to church, and serving.

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, you can literally change your eternal destiny in minutes. You MUST recognize you’re not perfect and that you’ve sinned against God by trying to run your own life. You’re not God and He IS and that’s the long and short of it.

Walk Straight

Jesus said in John 3:16 that God so loved this world that He gave His only Son, Jesus. (That was His very best!) And He finished by saying “whoever” believes in Him “will not perish” but have everlasting life. We’re all going to die physically someday. But without knowing Jesus personally as your Lord and Savior, there is a very real spiritual death and that destiny ends in hell forever with no hope of escape.

Hell is not just a bad day here on earth. If you don’t believe in hell you need to hear this testimony of Bill Wiese about 23 minutes in hell.

However, there is also spiritual life in Christ when you bow your heart to Jesus, admit your need for Him and then invite Him into your heart. You will not be sorry you did.

Be Watching for Him

The Bible says that if you’re a Christian and are still alive, Jesus Christ Himself is coming back one day to take all of us to heaven to be with Him forever.

For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 1 Thess. 4:16-17 NLT.

This is referred to as the Rapture of the Church.

It also says that we will be rewarded for just anticipating or looking forwarding to Christ returning for us. Second Timothy 4:8 in the NLT says, And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of His return. And the prize is not just for me but for all who eagerly look forward to His appearing.

That will be a day like we’ve never seen before.

Are you watching for Him? Are you looking forward to Him coming? Are you awake and walking straight? Are you sober?

This old world is not going to last forever and one day soon Jesus is coming back for all who know Him and have accepted Him as Lord, Savior and the only TRUE God!

Are you ready? If you’re not you can be. Simply ask God’s forgiveness for not inviting Jesus into your life and tell Him you want Him to be Lord in your life. Mean it with all your heart, commit to reading, following and obeying His word and you’ll be ready when He comes.

You will NOT regret it, I promise you!
