Spiritually de-Sensitized

Posted: February 24, 2016 in Uncategorized

How many of you have been noticing the increase of subject matter and entertainment regarding the dark side of the spiritual realm in movies, TV shows, and commercials? It’s been increasing for many years now but it has become very common these days to see new movies and TV shows advertised almost weekly that are boldly displaying detailed, demonically-inspired graphic images about the dark side of the spiritual realm.

There’s a host of prime-time programs available these days—reality and otherwise—that are blatantly advocating the acceptance of many different types of occult and new age practices. You can find programs now about hunting ghosts (which are actually demonic manifestations), becoming demon possessed, exploring haunted houses, hunting werewolves, vampires, witches, engaging in necromancy (talking to or summoning up dead spirits), summoning up demons and just about any other perversion that you would choose to indulge in.

For example, I searched for only a few minutes online for prime-time and internet programming and found more than 40 different shows that portray dark spiritual, paranormal, and openly demonic activities. If you would choose to take a stroll through the “Spiritual” section in most large secular bookstores such as Barnes & Noble, they will offer opportunities to learn much more than what you can see on TV or the movies.

Make no mistake about what is happening here, this is not just another form of worldly entertainment. Satan has followers just as Jesus does and he has sold-out, committed people who already know how to operate in the unseen realm of darkness and they are teaching others to do the same. He is counting on us to either be asleep spiritually, not believe he’s a threat to us, or stay afraid of learning how to operate in the spiritual realm, thereby leaving him to operate unchecked against people.

Has darkness finally defeated the light?

No!…And it Never Will!

However, it’s obvious there is a hunger for the supernatural like there never has been before.

Why is this happening?

Born for the Supernatural

We were originally created by God to live and operate from the supernatural or spiritual realm. We were to live on earth as we do now, but He gave us the ability to live in the Spirit realm and He fully intended us to see and operate in and from a realm unseen with physical eyes, but a realm that is far more real and tangible than this natural realm we’re accustomed to.

If you’re a Christian, a truly “born-again” one, your salvation experience actually means you were born “from above”. In John 3:3 in the KJV, when Nicodemus came to Jesus at night asking Him about salvation, Jesus simply said, “You must be born again”, of the (Holy) Spirit. The words “born again” in the original Greek language in this passage actually mean: born from above, from a higher place, of things which come from heaven or God.

Satan knows that we as human beings, Christians or otherwise, were born with incredible purpose from God. I believe he also knows that we were created by God to operate in power and authority over him and his demons.

He may also know that we were created initially with a hunger to live from eternity or from the Spirit realm continuously. Therefore, it would be very logical for our spiritual enemy to create the best counterfeit or illusion of an original truth for the sole purpose of bringing us (as his opponent) down permanently. At the very least, he wants to keep us distracted and in unbelief of what God originally intended for us so that we would never fulfill our purpose.

I believe there is biblical evidence that we are to be operating in and from the spiritual realm. Ephesians 2:5-6 says, Even when we were dead in sins, [God] hath quickened us together with Christ,  6 And hath raised us up together , and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

This verse is not only talking about “positional theology”. This is literally talking about us coming and going in the Spirit realm or even being translated at times and then being returned with revelation and instruction as the result of divine encounters with either Jesus Himself, or angelic encounters ordained by God. In fact it is happening “right now” on a global scale at an amazing rate.

There are numerous accounts of apostles (such as Peter) and disciples having supernatural visitations from angels, being translated almost 20 miles away (such as Phillip), being caught up in the Spirit in or out of the body (such as Paul), seeing Jesus in an open vision (such as Steven), John in Revelation 4 seeing Jesus in an open vision.

Why is it so hard to believe that this was meant for us as well?

Divine encounters actually started back in the Old Testament, which was under an inferior covenant compared to what we are supposed to be living in today. In other words, we as Christians are supposed to be operating at a higher level of glory (the manifested presence of God) than Moses did when he came off the mountain and was glowing because he reflected God’s presence (see 2 Cor. 3:7-12).

Sensitized or Desensitized?

It’s my personal conviction based on what I understand in Scripture so far, that we as Christians are constantly being either sensitized to the things of the spiritual (God’s) realm, or desensitized by the world and the realm of darkness. I believe that there are only two kingdoms which constantly influence us, regardless of whether or not we’re a Christian. And we are constantly moving one way or the other depending on our level of hunger for God or the world.

There is no static position in the spirit realm!

Colossians 1:13 describes the born again experience as being freed from the power or kingdom of darkness and translated in the kingdom or the power of the Son of His dear love. The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 6:16 that whoever you give yourself to, to obey, you are the slaves of that one. Whether it’s obedience to righteousness, or disobedience to death. Again, this is referring indirectly to the two kingdoms that affect life on earth.

One of the most powerful verses I’ve ever found that proves this out is Mark 4:24 in the Amplified version. 24 And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear (the new AMP is different than this).

This is saying, it’s up to you how much power and knowledge of God’s word you want to operate in. The more you put in, the more you’ll receive. And the same things goes for the things of the world. Refer to Romans 6:16 above once again. God made us in such a way that we will produce whatever we spend the most time focusing on…and worshiping.

Just as Peter’s shadow healed people (Acts 5:15) when he walked down the street because He was full of the Holy Spirit, whatever overshadows us or determines our appetites and passions will eventually be released through us wherever we go.

There are only two masters, Jesus or Satan.

Is the Church Afraid?

Why is there so little teaching available “in most churches today” on the vitally important subject of living in the Spirit realm in these last days? I believe there’s probably many reasons, but I also believe there are a few primary reasons for this happening.

First is possibly the fear of getting “out there” so far that you get into heresy and cannot get back. Secondly, fear of what it actually looks like, how to correctly teach it, and how to operate in it so that we don’t get into complete foolishness. Third, perhaps there is a complete ignorance or lack of awareness that it’s really available and that it is designed for us by God to operate in “that” realm in order to stop satan’s strategies before they ever reach the earth.

Just like any other doctrine or important biblical principle or truth, things can get out of balance or be taught incorrectly and then end in error. However, is it not “just as wrong” to shy away from something so important just because we’re afraid we may make a mistake in teaching it?

I know this! The churches that are currently operating in a high-level of this are making enormous impact on the realm of darkness and the culture around them. But those who are afraid of this type of teaching will probably remain cloistered away in their safe, sterile, impotent environment until Jesus comes.

We Need the Gifts Today!

God has intentionally given supernatural gifts to His body for many reasons. Some are for encouragement and some are for warnings. Some are for information, instruction, direction, and wisdom. They are described in 1 Corinthians 12:4-11. The gifts of prophecy and tongues and their proper uses are explained in 1 Corinthians 14. Jesus operated in “all” of the gifts at times and He demonstrated the incredible importance and the wonderful benefits to mankind when they did operate.

In the Old Testament, God regularly and powerfully used prophets to speak to people individually and corporately because the Holy Spirit had not yet come to dwell inside His creation. If you do a word study of the word prophet or prophets in the original Hebrew language, you’ll find some of them were actually called seers. These were prophets who “literally saw” into the spiritual realm and prophesied what they saw…while living in an “inferior” covenant to what we have today (see Heb.8:6).

I believe what most of us have experienced so far is just the tip of the iceberg of what God wants us to operate in. I am not suggesting that there are more gifts available to us than what was provided in the word. But I do believe most of us are operating far below our God-given potential; I know I am! I believe there are doors open to us by way of the spiritual gifts already in existence that can launch us into experiences in God that can literally speed up our spiritual growth; as well as our effectiveness. I believe this because I know of people today that are already operating in tremendous levels of God’s power and bearing great fruit in their lives for God. And they are not in error or heretical because of it.

We (I) Must Stay Hungry for Him

I feel inadequate this time in trying to communicate what’s on my heart about this subject. It’s very important to me…and I believe it’s important to God. I’m sure that someone is going to misunderstand what I’m saying and think this is heresy. Again, a very thorough study of the Old and New Testaments will clearly reveal that the people who operated in powerful anointing’s were flesh and blood just like we are today.

I’m also very aware that you cannot twist God’s arm and make Him give you experiences, nor should you necessarily seek that. That’s simply foolish! The bible says that God gives the gifts as He chooses. However, the fact remains that simple, ordinary, everyday people are having miraculous encounters with God that leave them changed forever. Then they immediately go out and do astounding things for God’s kingdom, but in His power and they exalt Him as a result.

I believe in order for this to happen we have to stay hungry for God. “How do I do that?” you say. I’m going to give you the best answer I’ve ever heard from a man I have tremendous respect for. It’s very simple and I can back it up with the word (see Mk. 4:24 AMP).

He said you do just the opposite of what you do in the natural to get hungry. If you’ve ever fasted or were forced to go without food for a determined amount of time, you really start to feel the effects. A prolonged fast always proves this out.

In order for you to get hungry and stay hungry for God, you get into His word and read and read, and meditate and simply devour it. You worship Him and spend time in prayer. And sometimes, you don’t do anything but sit quietly and just love Him, listen to Him, and breathe Him in.

When this becomes a habit that consumes you to the point that you schedule everything else around Him and time with Him, you’ll start to have some experiences that absolutely astound you. And you know what, there’s absolutely no chance of you being deceived by the enemy or having an unbiblical experience because there are no demons that will hang around in that heavenly atmosphere.

Let’s seek God for a new level of experience in our relationship with Him. But be forewarned, if you’re going to go places with Him that you’ve never been before, you, (I) will be required to leave some things behind that you’ve been carrying for a while.

Please, please, please know this. I am most certainly including myself in “all” of this. I know what’s available and my fleshly thinking has been holding me back but I am trying to cooperate with the Holy Spirit so that I will stay on the altar long enough to die some more.

Let’s pray for each other and see what He’ll do. I can hardly wait.

*The best book that I’m personally aware of on the subject of living in the supernatural realm is: Gazing Into Glory-Every Believer’s Birthright to Walk In the Supernatural by Bruce D. Allen from Destiny Image Publishers.

It’s loaded with personal testimonies and strong teaching backed up by the word in the original Hebrew and Greek texts. It’s a great read!

Serving You Truth,

Dennis

*I chose not to capitalize satan’s name other than the beginning of a sentence because he doesn’t merit the attention.

How Big is Your God?

Posted: February 15, 2016 in Uncategorized

We’re living in a time when we are being inundated with information on a daily basis and on a global scale. Regardless of whether or not you’re a techie who stays on the cutting edge of technology, you are bombarded regularly with information in the sensory realm by every possible format available today.

In the culture we are currently living in, we must stay informed to a certain degree to function properly and to be aware of opportunities God brings our way, as well as dangers to either avoid or prepare for.

However, as Christians, if we are going to function as God intended, there is something very important we need to be remembering because it is literally a “life or death” issue for us spiritually.

You Become What You Think

Proverbs 23:7 (ASV) says, “For as he thinks within himself, so is he.” In other words, we will produce outside of us what we are constantly dwelling on internally.

If you are a Christian, you can say that you believe God is able to meet your needs, heal your body, deliver you from trouble, etc. But if you’re constantly thinking fearful, anxious, doubt-filled thoughts about God’s ability to protect and provide for you and your loved ones in this uncertain time, you’re going to open yourself up to some very adverse circumstances financially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. In Job 3:25 (NLT), he said, “What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come true.”

I heard an interesting statement made last Sunday by a brilliant woman named Dr. Caroline Leaf, who is a Neuro-Scientist, She said there is now documented evidence that 75% to 98% of “all” diseases are thought related. That’s an amazing statistic to say the least. Science is finally discovering with all their testing and analysis that God’s word is true. As a man thinks, so he becomes.

If you’ve ever listened to successful people or studied their lives for any length of time, sooner or later you’ll hear them talk about the power of thoughts and imagination in relation to successful completion of dreams they’ve pursued.

How Do You Think About God?

How you think about God, His nature, His credibility and trustworthiness means the difference between life and death for you and those you’re responsible for…literally! In order for you learn about God and His nature, you must spend enough time in His word on a consistent basis to have your mind renewed, or conformed to the way He thinks. This cannot be a casual thing in these last days; it must be a lifestyle.

You never have to be afraid of being deceived if you spend time in God’s word, letting Holy Spirit breathe on the written word and bring it to life for you personally. God’s word will interpret and prove itself by itself.

It’s important to spend adequate time reading, studying, and meditating on God’s word so that it becomes part of you at a “cellular level”. In other words, it must dominate your thinking in every area of life so it affects your choices about how you spend your money, the entertainment you choose, your friends, the places you go and so on. And most importantly, how you treat or respond to people.

You may have grown up with a particular religious or legalistic persuasion or denomination that has taught you that God wants you broke, sick, and to have nothing to show for your years of hard work or service to Him. If this is so, you have been taught wrong and you do not know the God of the bible, not really!

If this has been your experience, you may have a difficult time believing for supernatural supply that goes beyond what our paper currency can provide when and if it fails.

However, a thorough study of the Gospels and renewing your mind with the miracles of Jesus will pave the road for encounters with Him that can take you places you’ve never been before (see John 14:21).

Who Has the Greatest Influence on You?

Regardless of what you believe about all of this, it’s true. The kinds of thoughts you allow to take up space in your mind, will always manifest in like behaviors under pressure or in times of crisis.

There is another scripture in Matthew 12:34 that says, “Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” That’s because God made us this way. Our spirit will always produce what we put into it through our eyes, ears, and thought processes. Another way of saying it is, “you will always become most like what your worship” or constantly focus on. It’s an unchangeable spiritual law!

As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, we must stay informed to some degree to be aware of what’s going on around us in this world today. God did not create us to run in fear from everything and bury our heads in the sand like a bunch of Ostriches. However, you cannot feed your mind and heart on all the negative news coming down the pike and expect to hear from God clearly. Neither will your faith be developed to the point that you can believe God for miraculous supply and protection if your heart and mind are full of negative thoughts and images.

One of the ministries of Holy Spirit is to reveal “all” truth to us (John 14:26) as well as showing us things to come (John 16:13). It’s one of His job descriptions, He’s got it down and He’s good at what He does. But we have a part to play in this role too.

An Old Testament Perspective on Provision

I have a question for you. Can you think of a specific time when you’ve had a serious need in the last few years, recently, or anytime in your lifetime? Did God come through for you? If so, can you relate that situation to a specific scripture or a specific word God gave you? Did it involve your thought processes or your believing in any way? Of course it did, it had to.

If God didn’t come through for you, why do you believe He didn’t? Do you think He missed it on your behalf? Did it have anything at all to do with your way of thinking or how you saw God in relation to Him being able or willing to meet your need(s)?

Think about this situation for a little bit. Put yourself in Moses’ place when he was leading the Israelites through the wilderness after they left Egypt.

Experts speculate that there were somewhere between two and three million people under his leadership and a good portion of them were immature, whining, ungrateful people. That was a huge responsibility. How do you think those people would have survived if Moses would have believed things about God that many Christians and non-Christians believe about Him today?

Because Moses maintained an intimate relationship with God and was radically obedient to Him, his faith opened the door for God to provide an abundance of miracles for over a million people, on a daily basis, for forty years. This has never happened before or since.

How Much Did God Provide?

I’m going to provide some statistics regarding the amount of provision that God released through Moses for the Israelites during their wilderness journey. These statistics are taken from Perry Stone’s book titled: Supernatural Provision in the End Times. It was published by the Voice of Evangelism Ministries, Inc. in 1999.

On page 7, it describes what had to happen in order for almost three million people to cross the Red Sea before the Egyptians could overtake them and destroy them.

“God made a path in the sea (Isa. 43:16) in order to bring three million people across the Red Sea in a day’s time. The path was five miles wide and the people were 5,000 abreast! If they had walked two by two, the line would have been 800 miles long and taken about 35 days and nights to cross. Can God make a way in the wilderness? He sure can!”

Pg. 8 “The next miracle would be feeding such a multitude. It is estimated that feeding three million people would require four-thousand tons of food a day! If bread had been transported from Egypt to the desert in railroad cars every morning, it would take two freight trains, each a mile long, loaded with bread just to feed the people. At today’s prices this could cost up to $12 million a day! Yet God rained Manna every morning, except on the Sabbath. Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? God can!”

The next great miracle that God performed on a daily basis was their water supply. “They needed water to drink, to give to their animals, to wash their pots and pans, as well as their clothes. To bring in enough water to perform the daily task needed for three million people would amount to about eleven million gallons of water a day. If this water could be placed in railroad tankers, it would take a train stretching from Virginia to California in order to provide the necessary water to meet the needs of this traveling caravan…for just one day!. Yet, God knew where water was hidden under the rocks in the wilderness, and God brought Moses to the exact spot to bring the water from the rock” (Numbers 20:11).

Then there’s the miracle of the quail that God sent into the camp when the Israelites begin to complain because they were tired of Manna (Numbers 11:32).

“In modern equivalents, the quail fell in the camp about two feet deep and the person gathering the least gathered ten omers of quail! According to notes in the Dake’s Annotated Bible, one omer was about ten bushels. Ten omers would be one-hundred five bushels. This would amount to about six-thousand, seven-hundred quails each. This was enough for them to eat meat every day for one month. God told them they would have quail coming out their nose” (Numbers  11:20) because of their complaints against Him [my emphasis].

These statistics which can all be backed up by scripture should be more than enough to prove to you, or at least inform you, that our God is well able to meet your needs and do it abundantly when the need genuinely dictates it.

Keep this in mind, “all of these miracles” that God performed for these people under Moses’ leadership was done under the law which was an inferior covenant or promise in light of what God has promised for us today in the new covenant (see 2 Cor. 3:7-11, Heb.7:22, 8:6).

Miracles Haven’t  Ceased

Please understand that I am uniquely aware that there is just as great a need for God’s miracles today as there were in Old Testament times. I have good news for you. Miracles did not pass away with the Old Testament, the apostles, the book of Acts, or anything else you may have been told. Just because you may have not experienced any yet does not mean that God has closed up shop.

As a matter of fact, Jesus performed so many miracles in the Gospels during His very short ministry that John said in John 21:25 (AMP), “And there are also many other things which Jesus did. If they should be all recorded one by one [in detail], I suppose that even the world itself could not contain (have room for) the books that would be written.”

Jesus told us in Jn. 14:16-17 that when He went away He would send us another comforter, which is the Holy Spirit. In the Greek language, this means that Holy Spirit performs the exact same function today that Jesus did when He walked the earth bodily. But it’s even better than that because He personally indwells everyone who has accepted Jesus as Savior, Lord, and ruler of their lives. It doesn’t get any better than this.

God Never Changes, He Never Leaves Us

In these last days, nothing in this natural world that has been built and established by man can be ultimately depended upon. I am not saying not to trust people, we still need to do that. But we all need someone who can be trusted like one else and that Someone can only be Jesus Christ, through the person of His Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 13:8 says He (God) is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus said in Matthew 28:20, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. In Isaiah 54:10, God said that the mountains and hills can fall away and disappear, but His kindness and covenant of peace will “always” be with us.

These are great promises and you can trust God for your needs, physical, financial, emotional, mental or whatever!

However, you must remember that God’s system does not operate like this world. While there are some similarities, you must get into His word and know Him first before you try operate His laws, but they will always work as He says.

If you’re not His child, it’s simple to become one. All you have to do is admit that you’re not God and that you need Him. Repent of trying to run your own life. Admit you don’t know it all and that you need Someone Who does, and that’s Jesus.

Please invite Him into your heart today. You don’t have to pray a long prayer. Just say, “Jesus I need You. Please forgive me for not believing You’re Who You said You were. I ask forgiveness and I want You to come into my heart and life and take over.” And He will…immediately!

Then you’re immediately forgiven, accepted, adopted, and have access to Him the rest of your life.

And that my friend, is the “greatest” miracle of all!

Serving You Truth,

Dennis

This is a very sensitive subject among many Christians and non-Christians alike. Especially if you’ve ever lost a loved one, but were told by someone who believed in divine healing that God would heal them. If this is you, you’re not alone. My wife and I lost our only little girl many years ago at the age of five to cancer.

I know only one way to establish a foundation for this subject and that is with God’s own words, from His own mouth concerning His promises about healing, as well as the truth of what Jesus modeled in His ministry.

The are so many recorded examples of healing in scripture that I can’t possibly touch on them all in one post. So I’m going to do my best to stay focused on the subject matter in this title.

Old Testament Healing

The earliest records I could find of God healing someone was a case of barrenness in Gen. 20:17. Abraham prayed for Abimelech, his wife, and his maidservants and they bore children. This was several hundred years before Jesus went to the cross which proves God’s compassion for His creation very early on.

God continued to give commands to His people throughout the Old Testament about what He required of them in order for them to stay healthy or to be healed when they weren’t. In Exodus 15:26, the scripture says of God, “I am the Lord who heals you. The word heals in Hebrew is Rapha′, which means: healer, or physician of men.

Healing On The Cross

Theologians have said that the book of Isaiah is a prophetic book that clearly describes the events that would eventually happen in the Gospels and the New Testament after Christ’s ascension.

Let’s focus on Isa. 53: 3-6.This is the primary chapter in the Old Testament that clearly describes how Jesus paid for our healing, our sins, transgressions and iniquities on His cross.

As I said, I don’t have room to do this subject justice, so it would benefit you to get your bible and a Greek and Hebrew concordance and study this passage in depth.

In the KJV Isa. 53:3, it says that Jesus was acquainted with “grief”. Then verse 4 says that He bore our “griefs” and our “sorrows”. Grief in the Hebrew literally means sicknesses, and sorrows literally means physical and mental pains or anguish.

Verse 4 goes on to say that we considered Him stricken and smitten by God. In other words, the old English language means they actually believed that God put that sickness on Him and was punishing Him because He had blasphemed God. In reality, God put all of “our sickness and pain” on Christ so we wouldn’t have to bear it.

Verse 5 says, “by His stripes we were healed.” Healed in this usage is the same word as in Ex. 15:26. Rapha′: healer, or physician of men. And men is generic to also include women and children. But this also includes the hurts of nations, which includes all people on the face of the earth, no exceptions.

The New Testament

When you do a word study in the New Testament of the words heal, healed, and healing, you’ll find it to be a well-established subject. It was one-third of what Jesus did and modeled regularly in His ministry. He had a three-fold ministry that always included salvation, deliverance from demonic possession and oppression, and healing. But not always in that specific order.

In Matthew 8:16-17, Jesus was healing and delivering people again as He did regularly. Verse 17 says He did these things so that the prophecy from Isa. 53 might be fulfilled. He took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses…so that we didn’t have to.

Verse 16 said that He cast out the spirits with a word and “healed all that were sick”. The word healed in this context is therapeuo: to do service, to cure, heal, and restore to health. And it’s where we get our word therapeutic or therapy.

Salvation is Healing

To take this subject a little further, the word saved, saves, or salvation also includes healing of the body and emotions, not just the soul.

Romans 10:9 KJV, is a scripture that is used often when leading someone to Christ. However, it also describes salvation and healing of the body as well. See below.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath   raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

The word saved in this scripture in the original Greek is sozo. And it means: to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health.

God’s Kingdom, Word, and Will

In Hebrews 13:8, it says that Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. It also says in Hebrews 1:3 that Jesus was…and is, the expressed image of the Father and He upholds all things by the word of His power (dunamis-miracle working). To further prove that Jesus is the will of the Father (who is our healer), in John 14:9 Jesus said, He who has seen Me, has seen the Father.

And in John 5:19, Jesus said He could do nothing of Himself except what He saw His Father do, and He did that in like manner. In verse twenty-one Jesus said that as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whoever He wills.

Jesus was, and is perfect theology and He went about doing good and healing “all” who were oppressed of the devil for the God (the Father) was with Him (Acts 10:38). And as the verses above mentioned, Jesus only acted on what He “saw” His Father doing.

Why Don’t We Get Healed Then?

There are a myriad of reasons why people don’t get healed today, even if they say they believe in healing. I don’t know that we’ll ever discover all of them, but God’s word shows us enough reasons to stay in pursuit of healing regardless of our circumstances because Jesus paid an exorbitant price so that we could be healed.

Some of the reasons God has made me aware of in my own life are these. Unbelief, rebellion, disobedience, reasoning, fear, religious tradition, wrong teaching, or no teaching at all on the subject.

A misunderstanding of or misapplication of the “laws” of faith which always work the same, just like physical laws. Presuming or assuming since God did it a certain way at one time that He’ll do it the same way the next time.

A lack of knowledge regarding the difference between operating in scriptural principles and listening for the voice or presence of the Holy Spirit bringing specific direction for our healing, or for others when we pray, etc.

Some Christians have been taught wrong for so long that they actually believe God gets glory or honor from us being sick and that we can learn lessons from it.

While it’s true that we can always learn to mature in our attitudes and responses during trials, I absolutely refuse to believe that God, who sent His son to die for me, would take all my sin and sickness and put it on Jesus and then turn back around and put it on me so that I could learn something.

That’s not the character of the same God that I know as stable and trustworthy.

If God did that, His own kingdom would cease to exist. See Lu. 11:18, Jesus was in another dispute with the religious leaders of the day. They accused Him of casting out devils by Beelzebub, the prince of devils. Jesus said if that were the case, satan’s kingdom could not stand.

Likewise, just how much sense does it make for God to put all the sin, sickness, and disease of the entire world on Jesus and then turn around and put it on us as well? There’s no logic in that kind of thinking at all. You have to get this junk through the spirit of religion or wrong teaching that is void of experiencing God as Healer.

If you really believe that God puts any sickness on you at all, then you are deliberately and rebelliously placing yourself outside of God’s will when you go to the doctor for a check-up or for medicine to get better. If you believe God’s will is sickness, then don’t settle for a headache, go all the way and ask for something terminal like cancer.

I know this sounds heartless and insensitive, but this is how ridiculous religious teaching is that is totally void of God’s balanced truth. If Jesus didn’t model sickness, then we shouldn’t allow it either. If sickness isn’t in heaven then we shouldn’t allow it here either. As it is heaven Father, so let it be done on earth. God doesn’t have sickness and He doesn’t intend for us to live with it either.

Unbelief and Other Passions

It is my conviction based on personal experience that unbelief and other passions, appetites or “weapons of mass distractions” are primarily responsible for not being able to receive healing when necessary.

We live in a world today that operates on a system of natural unbelief. Have you ever heard someone say, “I’ll believe it when I see it?” Sounds like doubting Thomas doesn’t it (see John 20:25)?

Unbelief probably comes in many forms, but I think there are three main ways that I know of. Natural unbelief comes from living in the world’s system and not having your mind renewed to the truth of God’s word.

Secondly, there is unbelief as an act of your stubborn will. You have been exposed to the truth that it’s God’s will to heal you, you sense the Holy Spirit dealing with you but you won’t yield to it.

And one of the other ways is wrong teaching. In other words, being taught things like, “God puts sickness on you to teach you something and so He can get glory from it.” This kind of unbelief is probably the hardest to overcome. If you’ve been under this type of teaching for decades, it’s not going to change overnight without a miraculous revelation from God. You’re going to have to “want” to know the truth.

Then, there are other passions and distractions of this present age and culture that simply occupy a higher place of priority in our hearts and minds than God’s words. Mark 4:19 describes this in detail in the Amplified version.

Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless.

When the cares and passionate desires of this world take root in our hearts, it doesn’t matter what we’re in need of, healing, finances, joy, peace, or whatever. The word will not work in our hearts, and it’s God word that carries the capacity for and produces healing in our lives.

I sincerely hope this encourages you to pursue not just healing, but an intimate, personal relationship with “the Healer”, Jesus Christ, the anointed one. I have done my best to prove that healing is God’s will for you. However, healing may come in many different ways.

It can come through medicine, a doctor’s wisdom, a dear friend praying for you, or perhaps while you’re reading healing scriptures from God’s word.

But however and whenever it comes, rejoice and give God praise for it because every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father above (James 2:17).

Serving You Truth,

Dennis
